MODEL PROFILE · Amazon
Amazon Nova Reel v1:1
The version documented for multi-shot video up to two minutes. AWS also lists a September 30, 2026 end-of-life date, so an online generation guide is not evidence of current access.

Documented facts
The following fields come from the official provider source, reviewed on the date above.
- Exact model
- amazon.nova-reel-v1:1; separate from amazon.nova-reel-v1:0.
- Documented inputs and output
- Text or text plus image input; video output. The image is described as the starting key frame. English prompts are supported.
- Documented video format
- 1280×720, 24 frames per second, six-second increments up to 120 seconds. AWS specifies v1:1 for videos longer than six seconds.
- Prompt limits
- 512 characters for text-to-video; 4,000 for multi-shot automated; 512 per shot for multi-shot manual. These are character limits, not token windows.
- API and region in generation guide
- Async invocation; no synchronous Invoke, fine-tuning or provisioned throughput. The guide lists v1:1 only in us-east-1. Read this with the lifecycle notice below.
- Unverified fields
- Current charges, native audio output and downloadable-weight licensing are not established in this review.
The documented EOL date has passed
AWS’s legacy lifecycle table names this exact ID and us-east-1, with March 30, 2026 as the legacy date and September 30, 2026 as EOL. The policy says requests fail on or soon after EOL unless a private continued-access arrangement applies, and migration is not automatic. We have not tested endpoint behavior or an individual account. The still-accessible generation guide does not override this lifecycle evidence; no precise cutoff time is established here. The practical decision
Use this profile to identify an existing multi-shot integration and preserve its requirements before choosing a replacement. A single six-second clip and a sequence with multiple shots are different evaluation tasks. Save the original shot order, prompts, reference images and accepted output. Then identify which parts of the sequence must remain consistent: subject identity, product geometry, camera direction or the timing of an action. Treat the documented format as a record of the old contract, not a promise that a different model will accept it unchanged.
What to record in your own comparison
- Separate per-shot quality from sequence quality. Inspect each clip for distortions, then watch transitions for identity changes and broken action continuity. These are proposed checks, not Nova measurements.
- Keep automated and manually specified shot plans distinct. When comparing a replacement, record who chose the scene boundaries and which references were provided; otherwise the task itself may have changed.
- Verify replacement access and billing for the exact mode before estimating cost. Include failed attempts and assembly work when assessing the cost of an accepted sequence. No replacement is certified by this profile.
Limitations and unknowns
Documentation research only: no inference requests, generated examples or measured quality results. The guide’s capability descriptions are vendor statements. An available documentation page cannot establish an operational endpoint after EOL. This page does not transfer the multi-shot limits to Nova Reel v1:0 or assert that any other video model is a drop-in replacement.
