Confidential images
Client work, unreleased products, and private photos never leave your machine. DualView's share links transport state and URLs, not files, so there is no public gallery and nothing to take down later.
Comparison Guide
imgsli is the default way many ML and upscaling communities share before/after image sliders: upload two images, get a public link. DualView covers the same slider workflow plus metrics, video, audio, documents, and 3D, and it shares without uploading anything. This page lays out the real differences, as of June 2026.
If your intent is "share a quick public before/after slider in a format the ML community already recognizes," imgsli does exactly that and nothing more. If your images are confidential, if you want objective metrics next to the slider, or if you need video, audio, document, JSON, or 3D comparison in the same tool, DualView is the better fit. Both are free.
| Question | DualView | imgsli |
|---|---|---|
| Sharing model | Share links carry comparison state and media URLs, or compressed content in the URL fragment. Nothing is uploaded; an offline HTML export is also available. See the URL schema docs. | Images are uploaded to the imgsli server to create the link, and uploaded comparisons are publicly accessible as of June 2026. |
| Privacy while comparing | All comparison runs locally in the browser; files never leave your machine. Verify it yourself. | Sharing is the product; creating a comparison means uploading the images. |
| Number of items | A/B comparison across many modes, with split layouts up to 2x2 and a media library for swapping pairs. | 2 images per comparison as of June 2026. |
| Objective metrics | SSIM, PSNR, MS-SSIM, CIEDE2000, plus difference heatmaps and scopes. | No metrics as of June 2026. |
| Video | Synced video comparison with frame stepping, timeline, loop regions, and export. | Images only; no video as of June 2026. |
| Other formats | Audio, PDF, CSV/Excel, JSON, text/prompt, and 3D model (GLB/GLTF) comparison. | Not offered. |
| Cost and accounts | Free, no account for core comparison. | Free, simple, no account required for basic use. |

Upscaler and compression shootouts benefit from numbers: SSIM, PSNR, MS-SSIM, and CIEDE2000 render next to the slider, with difference heatmaps for localizing changes.
Compare videos with synced playback, flip through media-library pairs, use split layouts, and diff prompts and generation settings alongside the images they produced.
imgsli's strength is recognition and zero friction: two uploads and you have a link format that Reddit's upscaling and Stable Diffusion communities immediately understand. If the images are public anyway and you want the most familiar artifact for those audiences, imgsli remains a perfectly good choice as of June 2026. The existence of open-source alternatives built specifically to work around its two-image, public-upload limits suggests many users eventually need more, which is the gap DualView covers.
